Pokaran to Chandelao, via Jodhpur 230kms

Wednesday 6th February 2019

We make friends easily

A 9am start, sunny and cold, but not freezing as before. We roared off through the fort gates in convoy (video to come later) and joined the highway; another day of mainly straight roads beckoned. we had been going about an hour when Trevor  came to the front and signalled to Narendra to pull over. It became apparent that Andrew, our born again biker, had had a near miss incident with an oncoming vehicle, which due to his recent return to biking had clearly shaken him up. While we waited at the roadside for Andrew to compose himself several vehicles stopped to have a look at us, guys got out just to stand and stare; also a few children appeared from somewhere. We handed out some sweets and made their day. We always generate interest wherever we go 🏍😎

Andy’s near miss gives me the opportunity to post the clip that I now have loaded from yesterday’s ride on the Jaisalmer to Pokaran road. Filmed by Fred and I am in front of him ..the action happens a bit quickly so might want to watch it twice to fully appreciate 😱

On the road Bikaner to Jaisalmer Rajasthan

Andy soon recovered and we went on our way the road began to have some nice curves, which if we were going faster you could call sweepers. Cue for Bo, Fred and me to leave the group and whiz off up the road to have a period of full throttle fun again..we are bad boys 😎🤪

3 boys having fun

We entered Jodhpur, quiet a large town, and headed for the big Fort; every man for himself again in the traffic.. we really enjoy this part of the ride now we know how to play the game 😊 We parked up and headed for the fort overlooking “the blue city”. There are always sights to see on this country; walking towards us was a man, followed several paces back by his wife carrying a baby in her arms and carrying their suitcase balanced on her head! Its tough being a woman in India! 😬

After lunch we headed off aiming for Chandelao, which is in quite a remote area and we could see mountains ahead, and hopefully windy roads 👍🏍

We turned off onto a small back road and after a few kms entered a small dusty village, our hotel lay ahead.. we had our own mini fort; time for a cold beer😊

Narendra invited us all to join the crew before dinner to sample “Dark Rum”, apparently it’s some local moonshine. It was actually very good and got even better with each glass 🤪

That night as I went to bed I could hear someone banging a drum and singing in the distance.. sounded like this; ear plugs in again 💤
