The next adventure is approaching rapidly!! On 11th July18 I will set off for the channel tunnel and head for NORWAY 🇳🇴 😎
This trip is gonna be a big one; 16 days away and nearly 5000 miles; thankfully I’ve found a rear tyre that I can squeeze 5k out of 🙂 This will be a solo trip, its too long away for my working buddies; luckily I have both the time and a very understanding wife 🙂

During the winter planning months I’ve done a lot of online research about Norway and watched lots of YouTube videos.. it has stunning scenery and great biking roads, however the logistics of getting there are a pain and neither Norway or Denmark use the Euro.
There is no longer a ferry route from U.K. to Norway; instead one has to ride to the top of Denmark through France, Belgium, The Netherlands and Germany and then get a ferry. All that adds 3 days and 800miles riding each way to the journey time, however that does give me the chance to stop off in Amsterdam on the way to catch up with some Dutch guys I used to work with 🙂
Norway detail
The plan is to get an overnight ferry from Hirtshals in Denmark, to Bergen in Norway, then the fun begins. Riding up the West coast hopping across Fjords by ferry on the way, taking in the very best twisty roads and scenery. Then riding the amazing Atlantic Coast highway to Trondheim and then heading further North to the remote and picturesque Lofoten Islands and Henningsvaer. At this point we’re in the “ land of the midnight sun” within the Artic Circle. No snow this time of year, instead a toasty mid teens degs C.. apparently it can rain at any time though!

My trusty GS has been serviced, new tyres fitted and now I’m doing final planning and packing..just over a week to go!
