To Amsterdam, then home to the UK
Day 15 & 16 Weds 25th and Thurs 26th July 18
As I rode to Amsterdam I was hoping to see some more windmills; Itβs very flat and windy up in the north. Sadly not a windmill in sight, instead rows and rows of wind turbines.. not pretty π’
Arrived in Amsterdam and found the hotel remarkable easily. Got to the room and could smell marijuana from the Coffee Shop next door; had to close the window otherwise Iβd be away with the fairies π€ͺπ€£.
Hotel was on a busy street, but just a couple of streets away was a nice quiet area with canals and cafes. Later I walked into the centrum and noticed hordes of football supporters in their red shirts; apparently it Ajax are playing at home tonight. Got chatting to a few of them in a pub, they were very knowledgable about English football. If they win itβs gonna be crazy here later. π€ͺ
Had a couple more beers and a lite dinner by a canal side watching the boats full of happy party people go by. Really is a nice town this if you can get away from the tourist masses.
Thursday 26th July: My last hot 400 mile Mway day, including Belgian roadworks, channel tunnel and the dreaded M25. The temperature reached 39.5C in a traffic jam around Antwerp and the Eurotunnel train was an hour late..arrived home at 9pm: 4500 miles in all (7250 Kilometres) time for cold beer πΊπ
This brings this great adventure to a close…nearly.
In a couple of days I plan to gather my thoughts and post a summary view of the trip, this time including a photo gallery with captions on the pics π
So now I get a month at home, then 6 of us are off to Spain on the next adventure to ride the Pyrenees..ππ
