Its the North Coast 500 in SCOTLAND

Weds 20th Sept 17

So after some discussion and viewing various long range weather forecasts, we decided to ignore the forecasts and go to Scotland! No doubt it would be warmer in France and less chance of rain but the draw of Scotland, somewhere we have never been before, and its stunning scenery won the day.

Bernard, Matt, Colin and I set off on Friday 22nd Sept.

This is the route, in all approx. 1800 miles over 6 days.

Day 1 ride North up the M6 and come off just above Lancaster to ride through the Lake District then head off West at Gretna Green and stay on the coast at Givan.

Day 2, we’ll skirt Glasgow and wind our way up the coast line to Fort William in the Highlands.

Day 3 is a big day as we follow the coast line right up to the top of Scotland and stay at Bettyhill.

Day 4 we will stop off at John O’ Groats, the most Northerly point in mainland Britain, before heading South following the coast down via Inverness and then across the Cairngorms to stay just North of Edinburgh at Dunfermline.

Day 5 will take us further South, out of Scotland and down the East side of England via Kielder Forrest, The Pennines and the Yorkshire Dales to end up in the West at Chester.

Day 6 will either be a ride home via some good roads in Wales, or maybe add another night for more playtime in Wales depending on the weather πŸ™‚

I’m packing for all eventualities; winter linings in the riding gear, full wet gear and spare gloves and dark and clear visors!

Either way it will be a great adventure taking it all the best parts of our Island πŸ™‚

Make sure to follow us here…
