Tuesday 7th June
Woke up to sunshine glinting on the snow capped mountains in the distance ? We were just about to set off and we heard a Harley coming..it was Juan.. We had a quick chat and set off.. Immediately into great roads and beautiful scenery. As we ascended the mountain pass we encountered large amounts of cow shit..always right on the line we wanted to take.. a hint of what was to come! Further up we met a large herd of cows being driven up to a new pasture. We managed to slowly push our way through..big animals those cows. At the top we stopped to admire the view..fantastic scenery. Just then Juan turned up.. Can’t lose this guy.
Off we went, great roads, smooth surface, no traffic and mid 20s degs..fantastic. Stopped again to take some pics and up turned 4 bikers from Derbyshire..had a chat then on our way again. We had a couple of Sat Nav moments along the way..Garmin vs Tom Tom, but it was my turn to lead..Garmin rules!
The roads are great in this part of Spain and just no traffic..brilliant day. We arrived at our hotel.. Well actually a Hostal.. A dormitory sharing I thought, but actually our room was fine and so was dinner..we may have overdone the red wine that night, we did but it was a good idea at the time. Room, 3 course dinner for two and 2 bottles of wine..total 71 euros!
Wednesday 8th June
Slow start today..then into more fantastic roads. It’s was warmer..30degs most of day. Stunningly beautiful scenery, perfect biking roads and NO traffic..definitely biking heaven!
Our hotel tonight is a 4* ..still only 53 euro. Great roads, great scenery, great weather and great value..?
